AB 968 (Correa), (SEN –Labor & IR, Judiciary Comms., Amended 6/2) Adds Labor Code § 3600.7. Clarifies that adverse reactions to vaccinations/medications to combat effects of biological substances or blood-borne pathogens are AOE/COE injuries. Contains an urgency clause.

SB 125 (Chesbro), (ASM-Ins. Comm., Hearing 7/2) Amends Labor Code § 4850. Extends Leave of Absence entitlement to welfare fraud investigators and inspectors.

AB 149 (Cohn), (SEN Labor & IR Comm. Hearing 6/25) Amends Labor Code § 5406.5. Adds heirs of firefighters who died of asbestosis to those who must commence Workers' Compensation proceedings within 1 year from the date of death.

AB 1324 (Steinberg), (SEN Labor & IR & Judiciary Comms.-Amended 5/6) Adds Labor Code § 3212.86 Provides medical benefits to dependents of defined safety personnel who contract blood-borne infectious diseases from the parent. If dependent elects to receive w/c benefits, it is the exclusive remedy.

AB 1580 (Cogdill & Dutton), (ASM Approp. Under Submission Amended 5/6) Amends Labor Code § 3352 and 3363.5 and repeals Penal Code §§ 4017 & 4024.2. Would repeal Workers' Compensation benefits due to injury at assigned duties for city or county inmates.

SB 629 (Soto), (SEN Approp Comm. Under Submission Amended 4/28, Hearing 5/19) Amends §31720.7 and adds § 53222.1 to the Govt. Code and amends Labor Code § 3212.8 to extend presumption of blood-borne pathogen infectious diseases to licensed health care professionals with a documented incident involving a “sharp” object and blood/bodily fluid contamination.
